The Col·lecció l'Ermità recovers the "Quatre-cents aforismes catalans" collected and written by the universal monistrolenco Joan Carles i Amat (1572-1642), a compilation that, due to its age and the proverbial volume it contains, is considered a paremiological source. most important of the Catalan language.


Coinciding with the celebration of the Joan i Carles Amat Year (1572-1642), Edicions Morera recovers Catalan Dites, the historic “Quatre-cents aforismes catalans” written by this universal Monistrol native.

In Dites catalanes the aphorisms of Carles i Amat are presented in their double version: the historical one from 1636 and in current Catalan. The edition incorporates a critical and commented evaluation of the set of “Quatre-cents aforismes catalans” by one of the greatest experts in paremiology in our country, the linguist Víctor Pàmies.

For his part, the historian  Carlos Pizarro contextualizes the figure and work of Joan Carles i Amat, highlighting the relevance of the character and his contributions, especially in the cultural field, either through his musical treatises dedicated to the guitar or his interest. for more social and popular culture issues. A new repertoire of sayings and proverbs, many still valid today, that make up an authentic compendium of popular wisdom.
