2025 Water Jug by Benedetta Tagliabue
The 2025 Water Jug is a commemorative piece designed by acclaimed architect and designer Benedetta Tagliabue for the Càntir Museum of Argentona, on the occasion of Argillà, the International Ceramics Festival.
This is more than a vessel — it is a symbolic tribute to the essential, often invisible, role women have played in sustaining life through water.
A tribute to feminine resilience
Carrying water, carrying care
For millennia, women have carried water from wells, rivers and springs to nourish their homes. This repeated gesture speaks of strength, care and collective memory across generations and cultures.
A silhouette as a symbol
On the side of the jug, the silhouette of a woman carrying a jug on her head commemorates this enduring tradition. It transforms the object into a living memory in clay.
Honoring Saint Dominic of Argentona
The miracle of preserved water
This jug also honors Saint Dominic, the patron saint of Argentona, said to have miraculously preserved the town’s pure, crystalline water — a source of life for the community, then and now.
Handcrafted edition, limited to 5,000
A collectible object with soul
Handcrafted by Gómez i Gómez Artesans from a mold created by José Luis Osuna, the jug is part of a limited, numbered edition of 5,000 pieces.
A unique ceramic work that blends heritage, spirituality and meaningful contemporary design.
