This transparent pot uses soilless growing to invite you to observe the growth of the entire plant, both leaves and roots. In soilless cultivation, plants feed on nutrients dissolved in water. That's why the CitySens clear pot includes quality nutrients designed for soilless growing, also known as hydroponics. The color and screening of the glass protects the roots from ultraviolet (UV) light.
The plant support is manufactured on demand using 3D printing in the CitySens studio in Tarragona with TuMaker NX Pro Direct Drive HR 3D printing technology, developed in Irún, Gipuzkoa.
Each plant stand is made up of 108 300 micron high layers of polylactic acid (PLA) biopolymer mixed with 40% wood.
The use of biopolymer with wood gives the piece an organic texture and a sweet smell reminiscent of ground coffee or wet wood. The filament is manufactured in Jaén with PEFC certified wood.
The plant support has been designed by the CitySens team together with Innou, an industrial design studio located in Barcelona, focused on product design and innovation. In 2022 Innou won the prestigious Red Dot Award in the product design category.
Place the cutting of the plant inside the support, with the roots clean of substrate inside the transparent pot.
Add water to cover the roots, without letting the water touch the plant cut.
Add CitySens nutrients in the proportion of 4 drops of nutrients per glass of water. The plant takes food from nutrients dissolved in the water.
Oxygenate or change the water with nutrients once a month. Roots need oxygen for proper development.
