Xinxetes: when light and memory play again
Xinxetes goes beyond decoration. It is a light ritual that transforms discarded playing cards into floating butterflies capable of creating intimate and poetic atmospheres. Behind the project stand two historic companies united by tradition, craftsmanship and sustainability: Cerabella, with more than 160 years of candle-making expertise, and Fournier, the country’s most iconic playing card manufacturer.
Surplus cards are individually perforated and die-cut, becoming small platforms that float on water. At the centre of each one, a wick —included in every box— brings a delicate flame to life, reflecting softly on the surface like a memory that refuses to fade.
An intimate and ephemeral ritual
The experience is simple yet magical: fill a bowl with water, place one perforated card on the surface, insert the wick, and light it. The butterfly becomes a tiny glowing island, perfect for moments of calm, meditation or celebration. This essential gesture is what makes Xinxetes a meaningful and emotional object.
Each box contains 60 floating butterflies, made from authentic Fournier cards. Ideal for gifting or for creating atmospheric settings in dinners, ceremonies, baths or reflective spaces.
A design full of history
The cards preserve their tactile quality, colours and classic iconography, giving the product a vintage aura that resonates with collective memory. Lighting one also brings back the silent story of a card that is no longer played, yet still shines.
Sustainability and circular design
Xinxetes was conceived with a clear purpose: to give a second life to discarded materials. Instead of becoming waste, the cards are transformed into a meaningful, sustainable and long-lasting object —a commitment to responsible design and circularity.
A project with soul
The alliance between Cerabella and Fournier results in a unique, sensitive and culturally rich creation. Every floating butterfly becomes a small tribute to resilience, memory and renewal.
